To insure the public's health, safety, and welfare through the enforcement of adopted codes, to promote the economic health of the Town of Pine Knoll Shores and assuring adequate housing and clean neighborhoods, and to provide exemplary service to our citizens that exceeds their expectations for efficiency, effectiveness, and adaptability. The Building Inspections Department has specific office appointment, plan review, and inspection hours. Due to the volume of work and our desire to provide exceptional customer service, there are also changes to the contact person for various permits, questions, and payments. A contact list is provided at the bottom of this email.

BUILDING INSPECTOR’S OFFICE HOURS: Every Monday through Friday from 8am to 10am, the Building Inspector will be in the office and available on a first-come-first-serve basis for appointments, walk-ins, phone inquiries, etc. If you do not make an appointment and choose to walk-in, please understand that you may not be seen by the Building Inspector that morning. Unless there is a customer in his office, the Inspector will also answer or return phone calls during this time. Please contact Sarah Williams or Connie Shelton to schedule office visits per this schedule.

PLAN REVIEW: On each Tuesday & Thursday from 10am to 12pm, the Inspector will not be available for inspections, walk-ins, appointments, or phone calls as these hours are set aside for plan review.

FIELD INSPECTIONS: Inspection times are available on each Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 10:30am to 3:30pm or on each Tuesday or Thursday from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. If there is an urgent need for an inspection outside of these times that must be approved by the Inspector in advance. Please contact Sarah Williams or Connie Shelton to schedule inspections per this schedule.

If you do not make an appointment and choose to walk-in, please understand that you may not be seen by the Building Inspector that morning. Please contact Sarah Williams or Connie Shelton to schedule office appointments or inspections per the above schedule.

MAJOR LANDSCAPE PERMITS, ZONING OR CODE ENFORCEMENT: Town Planner Kevin Reed is the contact person for all major landscape permits, zoning questions, or code enforcement issues.

PAYMENTS: Please ask for Connie Shelton when making a permit payment either in person or by phone.

PHONE COVERAGE: Sarah Williams will answer the Inspector’s phone when he is not in the office. Some questions asked of the Building Inspector are often answerable by other employees.

BASIC MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING & TREE PERMITS: Basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and all tree permit applications are available Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30 pm by contacting Sarah Williams or clicking the appropriate link(s) on the bottom of this page.

HOA RESTRICTIONS: Compliance with HOA restrictive covenants is a responsibility of the property owner with enforcement by the homeowner’s association. It is the property owner’s responsibility to provide the HOA with all necessary plans, specifications, answers to inquiries, etc. as it relates to their project and provided in the format requested by the HOA. For your convenience, boxes are provided here at Town Hall for PIKSCO and PKA property owners.
